No matter what time of year it is, it’s never too early (or too late) to think about fun summer activities. You might think of going to the beach or traveling abroad, but for many people the best idea is music summer camps. “But where can I find music summer camps near me?” We’ll get there. The best thing about these camps is that no two are exactly alike. Most are for kids between the middle school years and college, but there are a few for kids who are younger and even some for adults. Genres range from classic rock to orchestral and some even cater to Christian worship music.

Just like any dating relationship, a musician’s bond with an instrument can feel like a great connection at first, only to lose the spark over time. How can you know if it’s time to hang up those drumsticks or if you need to double down? No matter what your connection with music is, there will be times when all you want to do is play and create music of your own as well as other times when you just can’t muster any effort. When can we make the decision to drop music as a hobby or pursue another instrument? Starting out in a new hobby or occupation is exciting, but you can also feel woefully underprepared for the task. No matter how great your thirst for knowledge or how much natural talent you have for the job, there will come a point where you ask yourself if there is some piece of gear missing that is holding you back from becoming the hot new thing in your industry. This is true for filmmakers, musicians, entrepreneurs, and more. So if you’re a young Christian musician, you may be thinking that your current instrument isn’t good enough or that you need some new software or accessory in order to be able to compete with all of the other artists out there.

When you’re just starting out as a musician, it can feel like you’re just kidding yourself. “How can I take myself seriously when I can’t even play a song?” As you start learning chords and rudiments, you’ll eventually be drawn to covering a favorite song or maybe even writing one of your own. Whether it’s a fair measurement or not, many of us judge how good we are by the number of songs we can cover. One of the best ways for Christians to start out is by finding easy worship songs for beginner musicians. Vocalists, drummers, guitar players, keyboardists, and even violinists can look to worship music for an introduction in playing popular songs.

- Christian Music
Keep it casual. Play it cool. We have so many different phrases for not taking things very seriously. This isn’t just a phenomenon for Christian teenagers, though. The world today has taught us to not get too invested in anything. The problem is that that leaves us as jacks of all trades and masters of none. So if you’re someone who enjoys playing music (and maybe even creating a little of your own), we think it’s time for you to get serious about it. Not because we want to suck the joy out of the process, but because you should give something you love your full effort. If that’s not enough incentive, we can also Jesus juke you with 1 Corinthians 10:31, which says “...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Still not convinced?
