Dustin Rohrer is a native of North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in college, Dustin played professionally with various artists in North Carolina. In summer of 2002 Dustin had the opportunity to play under the direction of Jerry Coker and David Baker at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop. In 2003, Dustin was a recipient of the Jazz Achievement Award at UNC - Chapel Hill. He has shared the stage with Slide Hampton, Barry Harris, Scott Wendholt, Mike LeDonne, Joel Frahm, Steve Wilson, Sonny Fortune, Candido and others.
In May 2006 Dustin received his Masters degree in Jazz Drumset from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with John Riley and Bobby Sanabria and performed in ensembles under the direction of Phil Markowitz, Steve Slagle, and Ted Rosenthal. In New York, Dustin had the opportunity to perfom at such notable clubs and venues as Sweet Rhythm, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, 55 Bar, Makor, Kenny's Castaways, The Lion's Den and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Dustin also performed with the Afro-Cuban Jazz band from Manhattan School of Music at the 2006 Conference for the International Association for Jazz Education in New York City.
After completing his Graduate studies, Dustin toured the US and Ireland for a year with the New York - based Irish rock band The Prodigals. In October 2007, Dustin got a call to go on the road with modern hymnwriters Keith and Kristyn Getty. Since then Dustin has toured extensively with the Gettys in the US and the UK, playing concerts in churches and larger venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Liverpool Catherdral. He has also done tours with Australian singer/songwriter Nathan Tasker and Nashville artist Carl Cartee. He currently can be seen on the road with the Gettys, or in Nashville where he lives his wife, Lisa.
